My experience of Wordcamp Pune 2017

After Wordcamp Nashik, the second Wordcamp I attended was Wordcamp Pune (#WCPune). Being an attendee in Wordcamp Nashik, I decided to become a speaker at the moment I was thinking about WCPune. Wordcamp Pune was on 15th January 2017 which brought new joy, new memories and unlimited freshness πŸ™‚

A month before Wordcamp

Just 30 days before, I applied for the Speaker’s form to speak at WCPune. At first, I chose the topic of Customization of Themes in WordPress but after I applied, the organizers of WCPune replied me to get a trial video to test ‘How you speak’. I sent the video long after I got reply because I thought hundreds of times before being a speaker. Actually, I started downsizing my speaking skills thinking about I’ll not be able to speak. But, anyhow I made up my mind and became ready to shoot a video of trial. I was also asked for ‘How long session do I need?’, I just seek a 20 minutes of time. Do you know the most amazing thing? My mother gave this great idea about being the youngest speaker in Wordcamp after being the youngest attendee!

After I sent video, I received message from an organizer of WCPune about How cool it would be if you would be involved in an interview with Rahul Bansal? And at that time, the topic changed into an interactive one:

WordPress is Easy: In conversation with Kumar Abhirup and Rahul Bansal.

That was the time I became fixed of. Fixed of what? Going in Wordcamp Pune 2017! πŸ˜‰

Rahul Bansal Sir is an Organizer in Wordcamp Pune 2017 and he is much experienced in blogging. I guess it was his idea of having a QnA session with me.

The Speaker/Sponsor Dinner

This was a very good party night! Though I had just a light dinner because of sleepiness, I enjoyed a lot πŸ™‚ That night gave me a confidence of speaking for Wordcamp. Let me tell you that the Dinner was on 14th Jan, 7 PM at Atmosphere 6 Hotel, Viman Nagar in Pune, i.e. Just a night before Wordcamp! It was a great venue for party time!

I met many of the speakers/sponsors/organizers/volunteers at the dinner and I enjoyed with everyone. This time, it seemed like there were more outsiders than Punekars (People from Pune). Some people were from other countries such as USA, France and Poland. Nashikites were also present in Pune in those days.

The day of #WCPune!

The venue of Wordcamp was at Ness Wadia College of Commerce which timed from 9 AM to 5 PM and till 11 PM including afterparty. At first, it was breakfast time eating Pohe (Cultural dish of India). Tea was also available, but after having tea in hotel, I couldn’t have anymore.

There was a time when speakers were supposed to introduce themselves at the openings. I introduced well ( According to my perspective πŸ˜‰ ) After, there was a Speaker Quiz session when easy questions were asked to the speakers. Question asked to me was, ‘What is the latest version of WordPress?‘. Easyyy, isn’t it? I answered 4.7, but however it was 4.7.1 πŸ™ Does it really matters? No problem, I had a great day ahead πŸ™‚

My speaking session

As I told before, my session was all about WordPress being easy. I had a great conversation with Rahul Bansal with the #WPCommunity. At first, he asked me questions, and then moderated audience’s questions. Overall, I was happy with session and I hope people who watched would feel the same!

Lunch Time

I don’t have much to say about lunch because I focused more on its delicious taste rather than thinking about making it a story πŸ˜‰

New People I got to know

There were many people apart from #WCNashik in #WCPune. Therefore, there was a need to generate a new article and a new story. I liked the whole community and these are some of the people I met throughout the day.

All the Wordcampers, feel free to drop your thoughts below in the comment section to let me know if something missed. Everyone there encouraged me, boosted me and suggested me to do something better… Thank You πŸ™‚
